“Five Times Pay” and “Ten Times Pay” are machines with 5X and IOX multipliers. These multipliers operate on the same principle as doubling symbols. For example, if two iox symbols appear on the same payline, the amount of the payout is multiplied by 100!
Nudge Symbols
How many times have you been rankled because a payoff symbol appeared just above or below the payline? When you play free slots, you probably can’t count the times when the reels came to rest with two bars on the payline and the third bar just one stop above or below the payline. Exasperating, isn’t it?
Not missing a bet, some machines now have certain symbols that are nudged to the payline after the reels stop spinning.
The best example is “Double Diamond Deluxe,” which is a three-reel machine with Diamond-Bar nudge symbols. When the reels stop and a Diamond-Bar appears just above or below the payline, that reel will move one stop up or down, depending on which way the point of the diamond is facing. Since the diamond is superimposed over one, two, or three bars, this nudge symbol will complete a row of bars. Another example is the “Balloon Bars” game, in which a hot air balloon will float up to the payline if it landed one stop below.
